Salmon is one of the most nutritious foods available – it is high in healthy Omega 3 fats and is a great source of protein. Salmon is also an excellent source of Vitamins D, B12, B3, Selenium and Potassium – all nutrients that are particularly beneficial to supporting a healthy thyroid.

Salmon is a firm, oily fish that is great on the grill, pan seared, broiled, roasted and smoked. Alaskan wild caught salmon is far superior to all other types of salmon, although it is not as readily available as farm raised salmon. Salmon often contains large pin bones, which can be easily removed with needle nose pliers. If the salmon still has the skin on, start by grilling it flesh side down and then turn it over so that the skin is in contact with the grill. When you remove the fish from the grill, you can easily slide a spatula between the skin and the salmon, leaving the skin behind on the grill.
