Welcome to One Red Pot!
Over the years I have had a variety of careers and experiences – all have made me the person I am today with interests in a wide range of topics. I feel so fortunate for the life I have and for all the adventures and experiences – both good and not so good. Through One Red Pot I hope to share some of the lessons I have learned along the way in a fun and supportive environment. Thanks for stopping by – and thanks for joining me on this journey!

Dog Corn Cookies
Lately there is a lot of concern about the ingredients found in dog food and treats - much of it coming from China. Now absolutely 100% of the food our dogs eat is 100% human grade and there is no question about the origin of any of the ingredients in their diet. These cookies are easy to make and your dogs will love them!

Quinoa Cakes
Quinoa, known as the “super grain of the future”, is actually a very old source of complete, high-quality protein that was cultivated by the Incas over 5000 years ago. Quinoa, is not a grain, but rather a seed. As a protein, it contains all of the essential amino acids the body needs, and is also an excellent source of magnesium, manganese, copper, potassium, zinc and iron.

Composting
It's been a year since we started composting. This past week we added about five wheelbarrels worth of compost to our garden - the quantity we ended up with after a year of composting. It was beautiful, dark, moist and full of healthy worms and nutrients to add to our soil. We are working on the second batch and planting our fall garden, but the sense of enriching our soil with our food and yard debris was particulary satisfying. Have you started composting yet?
